The Health One

Hold up, before you think I’ve lost every ounce of modesty after crowning myself ‘The Health One’, what I actually want to share with you is a nutrition brand named ‘InnermOst’. I’m all for good nutrition, in a straightforward and effective way, which is exactly what InnermOst strives for; founded to inspire people to live their best lives through better health and wellbeing. I was a little sceptical after first being introduced to these products, as I’m not normally one for powders- my answer (whether right or wrong) would tend to be to eat more protein in a meal rather than put it in a powder. However, I was pleasantly surprised by InnermOst’s ‘NO NASTIES’ approach to their products, as well as containing no additives, fillers, GMO nasties or mystery ingredients. Many of their products are Vegan too, which is great for me with a dairy free diet. I guess I thought, let’s give it a try as I’m always on the go, working at stupid o’clock in the morning, or getting in late at night and probably lacking some of the nutrients my body needs to function well and stay energised.

What products did I receive?
InnermOst Blend- ‘The Health One’ vanilla flavour (to help detox and strengthen your immune system) * perfect for me after recovering from glandular fever and chronic fatigue. You can simply add this to water or plant based milk and SHAKE….
Booster/Nutritional Supplements- ‘The Health Plus’ (Packed with superfoods, sirtfoods, electrolytes and antioxidants) Boosters can be used on their own, or alongside Blends! I have been adding 1 tsp to a cup of hot water, sweetened with a squeeze of honey! The perfect morning boost to start my day.

Here are a few ways to use ‘The Health One’ Blend…I’ve taken a twist on a normal protein shake, and discovered ways to incorporate protein powder into a few recipes to make it a bit more fun and even tastier!
Banana Protein Pancakes
Not your classic 3 ingredients pancake recipe, but something a little more adventurous…perfect for a lazy weekend morning. (Serves 1-2 dependant on how many pancakes you want/option to add more of the protein blend to adjust).
Dry ingredients:
3/4 cup buckwheat flour
1/8 cup The Health One InnermOst protein blend
1tbsp coconut sugar
1tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
Wet Ingredients:
1 Egg
200ml almond milk
2 ripe bananas
2 tbsp coconut oil, melted

  • Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, health blend and salt in a bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and milk until fluffy (I just use a fork to whisk). In another bowl, mash one banana.
  • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, whisking constantly. Then add 1 tbsp melted coconut oil and the mashed banana and mix a final time. *If your mixture seems too thick, add a drop or two more of almond milk.
  • Heat 1 tsp of the coconut oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Whilst it heats, cut the other banana into slices and place 2–3 banana rounds onto the surface of the frying pan and cover with about 3 tablespoons of the batter. Dependant on the size of your pan, repeat this step for another pancake or two.
  • Cook until air bubbles begin to appear, then flip the pancakes over and cook the other side. Cook for about 2–3 minutes in total. The bananas will start to char and brown- don’t worry, they should look like that!
  • Cook the rest of your mixture to create your stack of pancakes, and SERVE!

Toppings ⇒ I used a drizzle of agave nectar and a sprinkle of cinnamon. You could also drizzle nut butter, honey or add some summer berries.
