Ballin’

I wish this could be true. I’m afraid I’m not talking about money, but instead, energy balls! I’m obsessed with these ball shaped snacks, no pun intended. So many brands have created these kind of on the go energy treats, it seems to have become a bit of a trend. ‘Deliciously Ella’ has her own range of energy balls in a few different flavours which are super yummy, as well as places like ‘Pitch coffee’ and ‘Wired co’ (mentioned in my coffee snob post) that stock freshly made power balls as a great healthy alternative to a slice of cake. Even though these snacks are so easy to buy from the supermarket/grab with your coffee, it is also super quick to make these kind of treats at home to last you for the week. Not only is it a lot cheaper to do it this way, but you can also tailor the flavour of your balls to whatever you please.
My ‘Energy Ball’ recipe is so quick and easy to make, and if I may say so myself, very tasty. If you’re a lover of nut butter, have a sweet tooth that needs to be curbed, or find that you constantly get that late afternoon slump, you should definitely give these a go.
So…
Ingredients-

1 cup gf oats
1/2 cup peanut butter (or any nut butter)
1/4 cup agave or honey
1 tbsp melted coconut oil
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp flax seed
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Roll them in- seeds, cacao powder, coconut etc
Mix all of the ingredients, cover and pop in the fridge for 30 mins. Take out the fridge, roll them into balls and roll in your chosen toppings, or leave them plain!

I chose to add some of this Milled Linseed because I had it in the cupboard, but it’s not essential!

The balls are ready to be rolled. (Left to right) Cacao nibs, chia seeds, milled linseed, cacao powder. Get creative!

BALLS
The oats in the balls are complex and slow releasing carbohydrates to help you sustain energy levels and give you a boost through to the end of the day. The complex carbohydrates also stabilize and slowly raise blood sugar levels. So, not only are they nutritionally beneficial, they are also a nut butter lovers dream. Blimey, that’s nearly a tongue twister. They are so quick and easy, so give them a go, and let me know what you think! We will all be BALLIN’.
Enjoy!
